President
- Chairs Students’ Association Meetings.
- Communicates with NLCSA business manager in a prompt manner, and responds to business initiatives within a 24-hour period during school hours. This includes emails, signed documentation, and phone calls.
- Ensures bylaws, policy and student conduct procedures are followed.
- Ensure a professional manner on Campus and off Campus e.g. Social media,
dressing professionally, representing all NLC students on behalf of the Post
Secondary Act - Express and support all Campus Locations and interests when representing the SA in an official Meetings.
- Hold each Executive and fellow NLCSA members accountable according to SA
bylaws, responsibilities and campus needs. - Represent the SA by understanding and communicating all policies and positions of the NLCSA.
- Hold in strict confidence, unless required by law to disclose, all confidential information acquired in camera or in the course of the member’s duties.
- Attend and participate in all NLCSA meetings, NLCSA committee meetings, and meetings of other bodies to which they are appointed by the NLCSA. Eg: Board of Governor, ASEC, Alberta Ministry.
- Representing Students Best interests in all areas of student life: Mental Wellness, Safety on Campus, equality, fairness.
- Conduct Annual Performance Review of Business Manager with Executive Council.
- Build resources that can be available to students through conferences, events, and awareness.
- Support Business manager with decisions on NLCSA Webpage, pre caucus meetings, and student led -initiatives.
- Assist in data collection that can support Student Life at all campuses and be presented to BOG Rep for BOG meetings.
- NLCSA governance review with business manager this process will include edit bylaws, policies to align with new structure
- Engagement direction development- ideas on how to keep NLC students engaged throughout the year with NLCSA activity.
- Display passion and commitment to the NLCSA.
- Present Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
- Secondary Signer Business Manager Timesheets.
- Speech at convocations for NLCSA.
Vice President
- Chairs Students’ Association Meetings when president is unable to attend.
- Communicates with NLCSA business manager in a prompt manner and responds to business initiatives within a 24-hour period during school hours. This includes emails, signed documentation, and phone calls.
- Ensures bylaws, policy and student conduct procedures are followed.
- Express and support all Campus Locations and interests when representing the NLCSA in an official Meetings.

Secretary
- Records minutes of meetings in the prescribed form, prepares
correspondence, and reads minutes at meetings as requested using NLCSA tablet that will be utilized for minutes’ purpose only. - Maintain the official membership roll.
- Utilize NLCSA template for minutes.
- Responsible for giving notice of meetings. This will be done a
week in advance to a contact list that person in this position will be required to make. - Process the general correspondence including the agenda for meetings and send out notices of meetings.
- Prepare minutes of NLCSA meeting and return to business manager in a timely fashion (within 7 business days of Meeting).
- Responsible for correspondence to other active meetings the NLCSA attends to. Eg: Board of Governors, student life and wellness, online/collaborative meetings.
- At the end of the Academic year ensures that all Students’ Union
properties and records are delivered to the incoming Students’ Union through the Staff Advisor.
*Have the bylaws and rules, a list of committees with their members,
a record of membership, and an agenda available at each meeting
Treasurer
- Assist in preparation treasurer’s report for monthly NLCSA meetings. These reports will contain QuickBooks, profit & loss statement, visa expenditures, NLCSA Account Balance & business manager’s hours and office expenses.
- Approve & initial monthly bank statements and profit & loss report. This will be completed at executive meetings week before NLCSA monthly meetings. These documents will be unable to be emailed so approval will only have allowed in person.
- First signer of business manager’s timesheet.
- Responsible with the executive for yearly preparation of annual budget plan and financial planning.
- Responsible for assisting the executive with Annual Fee Consultation with the Board of Governors.
- Assist Student Union groups at other Campuses with financial process:
- Ensuring SU bank Account is active
- Informing who on the SU and campus staff is responsible for attending to funds.
- What fundraising can be done throughout the year and suggestions on student group activities.
- In the case of the secretary is absent the treasurer will take on the role of minute taking for the NLCSA.
Board of Governors Representative
- Communicates with NLCSA business manager in a prompt manner and responds to business initiatives within a 24-hour period during school hours. This includes emails, signed documentation, and phone calls.
- Ensures bylaws, policy and student conduct procedures are followed.
- A vehicle is requires for this position.
- A resume is needed for the Board of Governors office that is sent to the Alberta Ministry.
- Represent the NLCSA by understanding and communication all policies and positions of the NLCSA.
- Represent the NLCSA by acting professionally and dress in a a clean professional manner.
- The Student Board Member is also a Campus Representative to the Students’ leadership council (NLCSA) and will have voting privileges.
- The Student Board Members are expected to give a brief monthly report at Board meetings.
- Travel and honoraria are paid to the Board representatives by the NLC.
- Must be willing to ask questions as needed and speak clearly in groups.
- Present NLCSA financials annually to the Board of Governors in March and speak on behalf of the NLCSA.
- A board report to the NLCSA is presented monthly by BOG representatives.
